Meet Brandan Moore, our Manufacturing Technician at GWS-NC in Arden, North Carolina. Brandan joined our team in 2013 and is a true example of a GWS success story. 

After high school, Brandan initially pursued a path in mechanical engineering, inspired by his father. However, after earning his associate’s degree, he realized his true passion lay elsewhere. He returned to school to study machining. While in the program, a friend working at what was then STF Precision, encouraged him to apply. Brandan landed the job and began working part-time while finishing school, training across both first and second shifts to build his skills. 

Over the years, Brandan’s dedication and talent propelled him forward. He advanced to Team Lead in the Machining Department, where he applied his growing expertise to mentor others and collaborate closely with engineering. Since our GWS-NC facility creates PCD tooling, everything is custom from this facility. While custom tooling is challenging, seeing the final product feels like a reward and keeps every day new and interesting! 

Earlier this month, Brandan was promoted to Manufacturing Technician, a newly created role designed to bridge the gap between manufacturing and engineering. Alongside fellow technician Tyler, Brandan now supports all departments at GWS-NC, tackling machine issues, resolving print discrepancies, optimizing schedules, and more. His engineering background and love for problem-solving make him a natural fit for this dynamic position. 

What Brandan enjoys most about machining is the constant opportunity to improve—whether it’s discovering a better method or boosting efficiency. This new role allows him to do just that on a broader scale, helping to shape the future of production at GWS-NC. 

Beyond the work itself, Brandan values the people he works with every day. Nestled in the mountains of North Carolina, the facility offers not only a stunning view but also a strong sense of community. He’s built lasting friendships with colleagues throughout the years. 

LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK 

A native of the area, Brandan grew up just 30 minutes from Arden and now lives next door to his mom. He enjoys golfing with a group of GWS teammates on Sundays—and getting in solo rounds when he can. 

When he and his wife Emily bought their home, the lawn was in rough shape. Brandan took it on as a personal project, transforming it from patchy grass to a lush, golf-course-worthy yard. He’s even added flower beds to complete the look. 

In his downtime, Brandan enjoys playing video games—especially new releases, though he always returns to a few favorites. 

And perhaps the most exciting news of all: Brandan and Emily are expecting their first child this September!
