RICK MCINTYRE – Chief Executive Officer
Rick came to GWS in 2010. Prior to joining GWS, Rick served as counsel to many middle market companies in the areas of corporate and capital transactions and strategic planning. Before entering the private sector, Rick served as a United States Army officer in command of units both stateside and abroad, earning multiple awards and commendations over an impressive active military career. Rick holds a Juris Doctorate from Barry University, and MBA from Marylhurst University, and a BA from Furman University.
CAROL ABNER – Chief Financial Officer
Carol Abner joined GWS Tool Group in 2018 where she is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the GWS accounting, finance, risk management and HR functions. Carol brings over 25 years of experience in various private and public manufacturing and service industry corporations. Carol is a CPA and a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP). Prior to joining GWS, Carol managed the treasury and finance departments for two GM spin-offs handling international treasury, risk, finance and financial reporting. She has also been part of the Sr. Management team for several turnaround companies including Fruehauf Trailer Corporation.
DREW STRAUCHEN – Executive Vice President of Business Development
Drew joined the GWS team in 2018. Prior to joining, Drew spent his previous 18 years in the metalworking industry, working in executive leadership roles for global cutting tool and machine tool accessories manufacturers. At GWS, Drew is responsible for marketing, product development and national distribution. Drew holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from Ohio University and an MBA from Northern Illinois University.
ADAM LAFFERTY – Executive Vice President of Sales
Adam came to GWS in 2010. Adam is responsible for oversight of the GWS outside sales efforts, to include the servicing of partnerships within the company’s distribution network. Prior to joining GWS, Adam served in various sales and business development roles for major organizations, culminating with the VP of Business Development role within GE Capital. Adam earned his BS in Business Management and Marketing from Butler University.
TOMAS ROMAN – Executive Director of Inside Sales
Tomas came to GWS in 2009. Tomas is responsible for oversight of the GWS inside sales, quoting and customer service teams across all facilities. Tomas began his career with GWS on the production floor operating CNC grinders. He then transitioned into the engineering department for 2 years before moving into a sales role. Prior to GWS Tomas worked in the technology and automation industries.
MARK BLACKSTOCK – Product Manager | Endmills
Mark joined the GWS Tool Group in 2018. Prior to joining GWS, Mark served in various sales positions with globally recognized cutting tool and machine tool companies and has over 35+ years of experience in the metalworking industry. Mark has an extensive background in cutting tool design and applications. Before joining the supplier side of manufacturing, Mark oversaw a tier-1 Aerospace manufacturing company. Mark has served as a board member of NTMA and is on the advisory board for NIMS education at a local university.
JOHN KIIFFNER – Product Manager | Holemaking
John Kiiffner began his career in manufacturing with Walter Grinders Inc. in Fredericksburg Va.
after completing his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering in 1989 at Old Dominion University in Norfolk Va. John began as an Applications Engineer at Walter Grinders before moving into a Technical Sales position and finally serving as a territory Sales Manager for Western and Upper Michigan. In 1997 John embarked on a new chapter in his career leaving Walters to become the production manager and a partner of Alliance CNC in Grand Rapids Mi. He served as production manager until 2006 before being named Vice President and placed in the roll of Sales and Marketing Manager. John now proudly serves as the product manger for Drills, Reamers and Micro Tools with the GWS Tool Group.
TRAVIS COOMER – Product Manager | Insert Tooling
Travis Coomer joined GWS Tool Group in 2017. Travis is the Product Manager for the Insert offering, and is officed in the Anderson, Indiana facility. Prior to joining the GWS team, Travis spent over 22 years as the sales and engineering manager at Carbide Grinding Co., Inc. During that time, Travis lead the organization in the design and development of many special inserts for applications in some of the most progressive aerospace, medical and automotive companies around the world. One such development included the now renowned GWS thread whirling insert technology now used by medical manufacturers across the globe.
SHAWN NOLAND – Director Of Manufacturing | Florida
Shawn started his grinding career creating in house tooling for a manufacturing facility located in Northern California. His passion for cutting tools took him from there to a well known cutting tool manufacturer located in Idaho, Micro 100 Tool Corporation. Over the course of his 15 year tenure with Micro 100, he continued to hone his craft and escalated to various positions of greater responsibility. Shawn joined the GWS team in March, 2013 and is currently the Director of Manufacturing for our Florida facility.
MIKE STIRES – Director of Manufacturing | Indiana
Mike joined GWS in 2017 with the acqusition of CGI Tool (F/K/A Carbide Grinding Company, Inc). Mike has worked his way up from an entry level employee to the Director of Manufacturing for the Indiana facility over the course of a 31 year tenure. Mike acquired his BA in Accounting from Ball State University.
RYAN MORIN – Director Of Manufacturing | Massachussetts
Ryan Joined GWS in 2018 with the acquisition of Benchmark Carbide, and before that had been with Benchmark since 2011. Ryan is the Director of Manufacturing for the Springfield, MA manufacturing facility. Prior to joining Benchmark, Ryan spent 20+ years with Data Flute CNC, the majority of the time spent in manufacturing and product development.
FRED EDMONSON – Director Of Manufacturing | Michigan
Fred Edmonson joined GWS Tool Group in early 2018 with the acquisition of Alliance CNC, and now serves as the director of manufacturing for the Grand Rapids plant. Prior to joining GWS, Fred had spent 10 years as the production manager of Alliance CNC. Fred started his tool grinding career in 1993 and has added experience as a manufacturing engineer and project manager.
JASON GAJENTAN – Quality Manager
Jason started with GW Schultz in 2007 on the production team, working across all tool grinding competencies. He then transitioned into engineering and studied cutting tool design under the tutelage of the founder, Greg Schultz. For several years Jason’s work was focused on developing programs designed to further automate and streamline efficiencies with respect to pricing of both custom and standardized tooling. Jason has now progressed to Quality Assurance, in which he is now responsible for QA across all GWS production facilities in the United States. Prior to GWS, Jason worked in sales, as a mechanic, and was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps.
